The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Château-Gontier and the canton of Meslay-du-Maine (until 2015: canton of Grez-en-Bouère ).

Villiers-Charlemagne is located about 20 kilometers southeast of Laval am Mayenne , which borders the municipality to the west. Villiers-Charlemagne is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Entrammes and Maisoncelles-du-Maine in the north, Le Bignon-du-Maine in the north-east, Ruillé-Froid-Fonds in the east and south-east, Fromentières in the south, La Roche-Neuville with Saint-Sulpice in the South and southwest, Houssay in the west and Origné in the northwest.

The national route 162 runs through the municipality .
