The inhabitants of the municipality are called Fromentinais .

Fromentières is located about five kilometers north-northeast of Château-Gontier on the Mayenne river , which borders the municipality to the west.

Fromentières is surrounded by the neighboring communities:

• Villiers-Charlemagne in the north,
• Ruillé-Froid Fund in the north and northeast,
• Gennes-Longuefuye with Longuefuye in the east and Gennes-sur-Glaize in the southeast,
• Château-Gontier-sur-Mayenne with Azé in the south,
• La Roche-Neuville with Loigné-sur-Mayenne to the west and Saint-Sulpice to the west and northwest.

The national route 162 runs through the municipality .
