history

Coat of arms of the feudal owners, the Lords of Dorfeld

When and by whom the small castle was built is not known. The castle was first mentioned as Hulreshol in 1335 , when the Grafschaft monastery acquired half of the tithe . The castle was owned by the Lords of Dorfeld (also called von Dorffelt ), who actually came from Westphalia (Medebach) . It was burned down by the Lords of Viermünden during a feud in 1506 (now called Huxol ) , but then rebuilt. In the middle of the 16th century, Bernhard von Dorfeld zu Medebach is known, Burgmann zu Medebach (mentioned 1532 and 1541), with castle loan to Huxhohl and Lichtenfels (1540) and with patronage rights in the parish church of Ense , and fellow margret zu Glindfeld (mentioned 1547).

With the death of Caspar von Dorfeld on November 30, 1609 and the extinction of the lords of Dorfeld in the male line , the castle came into the possession of the lords of Dalwigk . After that it gradually fell into disrepair, was finally completely demolished and the moats were filled in. The site was later completely leveled. In 1825 in the Waldeckische Landes- und Regentengeschichte it is reported that the land had been added to the manor Burg Sand .

There are no visible remains. A moat is still faintly perceptible in the area. The name Im Hux-Hohl has been handed down as a field name.
