The Willingen Five 2019 was a ski jumping competition , part of the Ski Jumping World Cup 2018/19 . It took place from February 15 to 17, 2019 on the Mühlenkopfschanze in Willingen , Hesse . Ryoyu Kobayashi won the competition.

Both the qualification round on February 15, which gave the right to start for the two following competitions, and the two rounds of the competitions on February 16 and 17 were included in the final ranking of the Willingen Five. The team competition held on Friday as a replacement for the canceled team competition in Titisee-Neustadt was not taken into account for the Willingen Five. As in the previous year, the winner of the Willingen Five received an additional prize money of 25,000 euros.

60 athletes from 13 nations took part in the Willingen Five. The World Cup weekend was a success with a total of 56,800 spectators.

Markus Eisenbichler

The qualification took place on February 15, 2019. The top 50 jumpers qualified for the competitions on February 16 and 17. Filip Sakala and Kevin Bickner were disqualified, Dimitri Wassiljew did not start after the training round. Markus Eisenbichler won the qualification in front of around 13,100 spectators and received prize money of 3,000 euros.

Competition on February 16

Winner Karl Geiger

The world cup competition on Saturday started at 4:00 p.m. The winner of the qualification, Markus Eisenbichler , surprisingly missed the second round. With Eetu Nousiainen , Lukáš Hlava and Jan Hörl , three jumpers were disqualified in the first round. Karl Geiger won the competition in front of around 23,500 spectators. After that day, Karl Geiger (465.0 points) was ahead of Ryōyū Kobayashi (463.1 points) and Piotr Żyła (458.6 points) in the overall ranking of the Willingen Five .

Competition on February 17th

Winner Ryoyu Kobayashi

The World Cup competition on Sunday started at 3:15 p.m. Gregor Schlierenzauer was disqualified before his first jump because of an irregular jump suit. The Japanese Ryoyu Kobayashi was able to win the competition with two excellent jumps and 21.6 points ahead of the German Markus Eisenbichler .
