Yannick Ferreira Carrasco (born September 4, 1993 in Ixelles / Elsene ) is a Belgian - Spanish football player . The winger plays for Atlético Madrid and is a Belgian international .

Until 2010: Starts in Belgium

Carrasco, the son of a Portuguese father and a Spanish mother, grew up in Vilvoorde in the province of Flemish Brabant not far from the capital Brussels and began playing football at the Stade Everois RC . He later played for Koninklijke Diegem Sport and Germinal Beerschot and joined the youth team at KRC Genk in 2009 .

2010–2015: Regular player at AS Monaco

After a year, Carrasco went to AS Monaco and moved up there for the 2012/13 season in the squad of the first team that was playing in Ligue 2 at the time. On July 30, 2012, he made his professional debut in a 4-0 win against FC Tours . He was in the starting line-up and scored the 1-0 goal in the 30th minute. At the end of the season he became champions with the team and rose to Ligue 1 . After a successful 2013/14 season , which the club finished as runner-up, Carrasco played in the 2014/15 season with the Monegasque in the Champions League . In the group phase he was used in all games and moved with the team as group winners in the round of 16 , in which they met Arsenal . In the first leg he scored his first goal in the Champions League in the 90th minute with the goal to the 3-1 final result and reached the quarter-finals after a 0-2 defeat in the second leg . There he failed with the team at Juventus Turin .

2015–2018: Europa League winner with Atlético Madrid

For the 2015/16 season Carrasco moved to the Spanish Primera División at Atlético Madrid . He signed a five-year contract that ran until June 30, 2020. On August 30, 2015, he made his first league appearance in a 3-0 away win against Sevilla FC . He scored his first goal on October 18, 2015 in the away game at Real Sociedad to make it 2-0. On 28 May 2016 he scored in the final game of the 2015-16 UEFA Champions League against Real Madrid the deficit to 1: 1 and lost with Atlético then in penalties . In the 2017/18 season Carrasco won the Europa League with Atlético .

Since 2018: move to China and return to Madrid

At the end of February 2018, Carrasco moved to the Chinese Super League to Dalian Yifang . At the end of January 2020, he was awarded to his ex-club Atlético Madrid until the end of the season.

Carrasco came on April 16, 2008 in a 2-0 win in Iceland for his only appearance for the Belgian U15 national team . In early 2010 he made his first game for the U17 team of the Belgian Football Association in a 1-1 draw against Georgia . On October 27, 2010 he made his debut in a 1-1 draw against Russia for Belgium's U18s , for whom he scored his only goal in a 3-1 draw against France on January 25, 2011 . For the U19 national team , he played for the first time on August 9, 2011 in a 1-1 draw against Denmark and scored three goals in a total of twelve games. On March 25, 2013, Carrasco came in the 2-0 win against Cyprus for his first appearance for the U21 national team . He scored his only goal in eleven games on September 5, 2013 in a 3-1 win in Italy .

A national team

On September 4, 2014 Carrasco was in the friendly against Australia for the first time in the squad of the Belgian senior team , but was not used. He made his debut on March 26, 2015 in a 5-0 victory in the European Championship qualifier against Cyprus , in which he came on for Marouane Fellaini in the 69th minute .

For the 2016 European Championship in France , Carrasco was appointed to the Belgian squad by national coach Marc Wilmots . In the round of 16 against Hungary he scored his first international goal to make it 4-0 . Overall, he was used in five games of his team, which failed in the quarter-finals with 1: 3 to Wales . At the 2018 World Cup in Russia , Carrasco was again in his country's squad . He was used four times and took third place with his team.
