Attention! - Car thieves! is a German silent action film by and with Harry Piel .

action

Harry Palen works as a car salesman in his boss Jakob Reuss's shop. Shortly before an upcoming test drive with one of the company vehicles, Harry meets up with his childhood friend Helene in the park. This is the moment when one of the Reuss vehicles is stolen by a thief. Harry, the jack-of-all-trades, doesn't just accept this, of course, but immediately attaches himself to the heels of the car thief.

With one hunt after the other, Harry soon discovers that there is a veritable gang of thieves that have specialized in the theft of luxury cars. He finally has to find out that the husband of his childhood friend, Robert Radek, is the head of the band. Helene obviously doesn't know anything about it. Radek is caught and arrested, Helene renounces him and marries Harry, who previously brought the stolen car back to his boss.

criticism

Paimann's film lists found the manuscript "not too complicated", and that Piel had "tried less than usual with sensations" and that the film showed a certain amount of idle in view of the illustrations of long car journeys. Nevertheless, "the whole thing is entertaining, fast in the pace, and thanks to the gracious presentation quite appealing".
