The As d'Or (German: Golden As ) is a French critic's award for board games , which has been presented by a jury at the Festival International des Jeux (German: International Festival of Games ) in Cannes since 1989 .

From 1989 to 2003 a jury of journalists awarded prizes in several categories that were presented by their authors during the festival. As a special prize, the best game in all categories was awarded the Super As d'Or . Due to the Gulf War , the festival and the award ceremony were canceled in 1991.

In 2004 the selection process was changed to give the jury more autonomy. Out of all the games published in France in the previous year, 11 were nominated, only one of which was awarded the As d'Or .

In 2005 the award merged with the Jeu de l'Année . It was decided that the award should be named after the year it was awarded instead of the year the game was released. In 2006 the first As d'Or - Jeu de l'Année was awarded.
