The highway 17 in Canton Glarus leads from the branch Niederurnen to Näfels . It is part of the national road 17.

An extension of the approximately two-kilometer long road is in the planning stage. While the Näfels bypass is ready for construction , the Netstal bypass , if it is being carried out at all, is at the project stage.

Until 2020, this section belonged to the Canton of Glarus, until then numberless. The canton handed this section over to the federal government in 2020. The federal government gave the section the designation A17, and this section has since been classified as a 2nd class national road.
