The total length of this predominantly non-directional thoroughfare is around 94 kilometers.
history
Since the 14th century, this road served as a connecting road between the newly developed market towns of the agriculturally fertile Central Plateau and was expanded into an artificial road ( Chaussee ) in the 19th century . Until 1851, there were barriers at the canton's borders that were closed during the night. The customs officer of Hüswil, Konrad Vonesch, pointed out in 1848 that the unlit customs barrier was not recognized in time by some coachmen. The Lucerne Department of Finance then approved the nighttime lighting of this customs office.
