The main road 18 is a main road in Switzerland .

This road runs through the Jura , starting in La Chaux-de-Fonds and ending in Basel . The section between Delsberg and Basel belongs to the federal government ( Nationalstrasse 18).

With the exception of an approximately 15 km long section between Glovelier and Delsberg , where the A16 motorway runs parallel to main road 18, this main road forms the regional west-east main connection axis in the canton of Jura . For the Jura as well as for the Laufental , Hauptstrasse 18 is the direct connection to Basel.

The road begins in La Chaux-de-Fonds as a junction of the main road 20 coming from Le Locle . It continues via Saignelégier and Delsberg to Laufen . From Laufen the road leads via Reinach and through Basel to the German border near Weil am Rhein .

The total length of this predominantly non-directional thoroughfare is around 96 kilometers.
