The Schwabgut is a common quarter in the VI Bümpliz-Oberbottigen district and the statistical district 29 Bümpliz in the city of Bern . Adjacent common quarters are the Bethlehem quarters Tscharnergut , Blumenfeld , Untermatt , the Quartier Stöckacker and the Bümpliz quarters Bümpliz Dorf and Fellergut .
In 2019 the resident population was 2025, of which 1394 were Swiss and 631 were foreigners.
history
The construction of the quarter consisting of prefabricated buildings and single-family houses began shortly after the Tscharnergut was expanded . The first stage was realized from 1965 to 1967, the second stage followed from 1967 to 1969 and also included the school. Back then it was a matter of course that high-rise buildings should also be built here. The largest and most heterogeneous overall development in Bümpliz was built by 1969. The two high-rise residential buildings on Schwabstrasse were the tallest in Bern and the tallest fully-element buildings in Switzerland. The so-called carpet settlement of single-family houses was so named because viewed from above it looks like a carpet pattern. A 20-story high-rise with 120 apartments belongs to the EBG railway construction cooperative. It was built in the late 1960s and renovated in 2008.
Facilities
The Schwabgut elementary school dates from 1959 to 1967 and comprises a primary school (five classes and a day school) and a secondary school (14 classes) with an auditorium and a gymnasium wing. Refurbishment is planned and should begin in 2021.
At the Domicil Schwabgut location (as one of the largest retirement centers in the region), care is offered for people who are dependent on care and support for health reasons. Accommodation is in single rooms (nursing rooms, one- or two-room apartments).
traffic
From Stöckacker station in the north-east, the BLS S-Bahn lines S 5 and S 52 from Kerzers and the S 51 from Bern Brünnen Westside to Bern Bahnhof. The tram line 8 (Brünnen Westside Bahnhof - Saali) connects with the center.
