Weidmatt residential development

The Weidmatt is a Berner quarters in the district VI bümpliz-oberbottigen and the statistical district 29 Bümplizstrasse . Adjacent quarters are the Bümplizer quarters Bodenweid , Bümpliz Süd , Kleefeld , Wangenmatt and Hohliebe . In the south it borders on the Könizbergwald in district III Mattenhof-Weissenbühl , the border is the Autobahn 12 .

In 2019 the resident population was 578, of which 303 are Swiss and 275 foreigners.

In the eastern part there is the residential development in the form of a row house settlement. On the side of Freiburgstrasse there are businesses and trades, especially workshops (garages) of various manufacturers of cars. Since there is a lack of opportunities for children to meet or play in the neighborhood, the Child & Youth Center and the Bern West neighborhood work (neighborhood work of the Association of Bernese Community Work, VBG) have launched an initiative called “Our Weidmatt”, which is run by the Catholic Church is supported.

The Bümpliz Süd train station (lines Bern- Freiburg and Bern- Laupen ) connects the area with the city center with the S-Bahn lines S1 and S2 . The bus lines 27 and 31 run tangentially. With the motorway junction Bern-Bümpliz / Köniz, the quarter is connected to the motorway 12 of the Swiss national road network.
