The Kleefeld is a common quarter in the VI Bümpliz-Oberbottigen district and the statistical district 29 Bümpliz in the city of Bern . Adjacent common quarters are the Bümplizer Quartiere Niederbottigen (the part with the little wood Rehhaghölzli belongs to Bümpliz), Winterhale , Bümpliz Dorf , Bümpliz Süd , Weidmatt and Wangenmatt .

In 2019 the resident population was 3,689, of which 2,123 Swiss and 1,566 foreigners.

History and development

The name Kleefeld is said to have come about by mistake in 1878 due to a typo in a plan. The farm there was actually called Kleinfeld. Another name was Mädergut, derived from the owner family. Emil Mäder, the last owner, sold the Kleefeld / Mädergut in 1934 to the civic community of Bern .

The Kleefeld housing estate was built in five stages between 1968 and 1973, and the district center was added between 1976 and 1978. In contrast to the Tscharnergut , there were no high-rise or high-rise buildings, but staggered chain houses. The architects who were already involved in the construction of the Tscharnergut wanted to give the buildings more independence.

There are also classic multi-family houses east of the border with Bümpliz Dorf . There are several industrial and commercial settlements on Morgenstrasse in the south on the railway line.

Infrastructure

The Kleefeld school complex from the 1970s is to be demolished and renewed, and the existing double gymnasium is to be renovated. The Kleefeld restaurant is also located in the center of Kleefeld with various shops as one of the meeting points in the quarter. The community center of the Evangelical Reformed parish of Bümpliz “Chleehus” with a youth center and leisure facility is located on Mädergutstrasse.

traffic

The Bümpliz Süd train station (lines Bern- Freiburg and Bern- Laupen ) connects the area with the city center with the S-Bahn lines S1 and S2 . The tram line 7 runs via the center of Bern to the Ostring. The bus line 27 (Nederwangen station - Weyermannshaus bath) provides a tangential connection.
