The Bertrandt AG is a publicly listed company in the development of the service sector based in the Baden-Württemberg Ehningen . Around 13,000 employees work at 57 locations, mainly in Europe, but also in the USA and China, together with customers from the automotive and aircraft industries .

history

The company was founded in 1974 by Harry Bertrandt in Möglingen , Swabia . In the first few years working for locally based automobile manufacturers , Bertrandt today works on component, module and derivative developments for the international automotive and aviation industries.

In the eighties and nineties branches were opened in Europe, especially Germany. At the same time, the range of services was expanded to include complete vehicle development. After a management buy-out in 1993, the then managing directors Dietmar Bichler and Heinz Kenkmann brought the company to the stock exchange in 1996. In 1997 the share was included in the Nemax index . Bertrandt presented its first prototype at the 1999 international motor show. One year later he entered the aviation industry. In 2003, Bertrandt expanded its offering to include upstream and downstream services in the development process chain, such as quality management and logistics .

Since 2004, specialist departments organized across the group have been supposed to ensure knowledge networking throughout the group. In 2005, through the cooperation with Euroaer , Bertrandt became a direct supplier for Airbus. A new location was established in Bremen for this purpose. In 2007, Bertrandt Services GmbH was founded in order to win new customers outside the mobility industry. In 2008, Bertrandt founded a joint venture with Aeroconseil for the aviation industry, Bertrandt Aeroconseil GmbH .

On September 11, 2008, it was announced that LBBW had entered the company as a minority shareholder (24.99%). The Porsche AG had already long been a shareholder (25.01%).

In 2009 Bertrandt was included in the SDAX . From February 24 to June 22, 2015 the share was in the MDAX .

At the end of 2010, Friedrich Boysen GmbH & Co. KG took over 14.9% of the shares from LBBW.

In the summer of 2014, Porsche AG increased its stake in Bertrandt AG by around four percentage points to almost 29 percent.
