Kämpfelbach is a municipality in the Enzkreis in Baden-Württemberg about seven kilometers from the city of Pforzheim . Kämpfelbach has a community partnership with Civitella in Val di Chiana in Tuscany.
geography
Location and natural space
The municipality of Kämpfelbach is located in the transition area between the Kraichgau hill country and the northern Black Forest . This terrain also forms the transition between red sandstone and limestone .
The Kämpfelbach water body gave the community its name. It rises in Ispringen and, after a total length of twelve kilometers, flows into the Pfinz near Remchingen -ingen .
Neighboring communities
Kämpfelbach borders on the communities of Ispringen , Eisingen , Königsbach-Stein , Remchingen (district Wilferdingen), Keltern (Dietlingen) and Pforzheim (Brötzingen).
Community structure
The municipality of Kämpfelbach consists of the two former municipalities of Bilfingen and Ersingen. The former Ersinger place "Sperlingshof, Kinderheim" belongs to Remchingen today. In addition, the Bohningen, Weilerle and Kloster deserts are located in the Ersingen area .
history
Burial mounds from the Hallstatt period can be found in Gewann Rainwald, Ernstenfeld, Kühlloch and Bernel. These are dated to 900–500 BC. Dated.
The first documented mention was Bilfingen in 1193 and Ersingen in 1197. This happened in papal bulls , in which Celestine III. the Frauenalb monastery confirmed its freedoms and possessions in Ersingen and Bilfingen. The names of the villages Ersingen and Bilfingen are of Alemannic origin. The Alemanni settled in this area around 260 AD . They gave the settlements the names of their clan elders, adding the syllable -ingen. Bilfingen is probably named after a Binolf and Ersingen after an Ergeso.
Common history of the villages Ersingen and Bilfingen
The two villages have more in common than meets the eye. The villages of Ersingen and Bilfingen formed a market cooperative and a double village with a common administration as early as the Middle Ages . Both communities had a common town and market charter . They differed from the neighboring villages not only in their religious affiliation, but also in their rulers .
The plague
In 1357, 232 people died from the plague in the villages of Ersingen and Bilfingen. The survivors took a vow and have been celebrating Vow Day on September 7th every year since then. In 2007 the parish celebrated the 650th day of vows.
Territory affiliation and denomination in the old kingdom
The history of the villages is closely linked to that of the Frauenalb monastery . In 1248 the Ersingen church was incorporated into the Frauenalb monastery. As a result of further acquisitions, the monastery is almost owned by the entire Ersingen and Bilfingen district from 1517. The Catholic faith was imposed on the communities as the property of the monastery. This changed in 1598 when state patronage and patronage over the property of the monastery passed from the House of Baden-Baden to Margrave Ernst Friedrich von Baden-Durlach . According to the principle of cuius regio, eius religio , the residents had to convert to Calvinism . In the course of this, the Frauenalb monastery was also closed. When Margrave Wilhelm von Baden-Baden regained possession of the two villages in 1625, they became Catholic again. In 1631 the Frauenalb monastery was rebuilt. From that year until the secularization of 1803, the two villages were again owned by the Frauenalb monastery.
19th and early 20th centuries
With the secularisation of 1803 the villages were part of the electorate , and since 1806 the Grand Duchy of Baden and were since 1821 part of the Oberamts Pforzheim, Pforzheim since 1864 the district office and since June 25, 1939 the district Pforzheim .
post war period
In 1945 the localities became part of the American zone of occupation and thus belonged to the newly founded state of Württemberg-Baden , which became part of the current state of Baden-Württemberg in 1952. In 1973 the district reform in Baden-Württemberg took place , when the communities came to the Enzkreis.
Foundation of the Kämpfelbach community
In the course of the community reform in Baden-Württemberg, people remembered the common past. On July 1, 1974, the two previously independent municipalities of Bilfingen and Ersingen merged to form the new municipality of Kämpfelbach.

coat of arms
The coat of arms of the municipality of Kämpfelbach has been used in its current form since 1976. It is the form of a draft, revised by the General State Archives, that was presented in a competition. It shows a red oblique left bar in gold (yellow), covered with two golden lilies.
The shield goes back to the coat of arms of the House of Baden-Baden . The two lilies indicate the two districts of Ersingen and Bilfingen. The lilies could already be seen on the coat of arms of the Frauenalbian double village Ersingen-Bilfingen. The lilies probably go back to Katharina von Remchingen, an abbess of the Frauenalb monastery (term of office 1537 to 1550).

Slamming the windows
The Scheibenschlagen is an old pagan custom, which is carried out in Ersingen on Carnival Sunday and Carnival Monday. Small wooden discs on hazelnut sticks are made to glow in the fire and then thrown over the disc bracket (launch pad) into the valley. Ersingen is the northernmost village that carries out this custom, which is particularly widespread in the Alemannic-speaking area. The field name “ Scheibenplatz”, which was first mentioned in a document in 1532 as “schyblechten bletz”, testifies to the long tradition of cutting discs in Ersingen . After the First World War , hitting the windows was temporarily prohibited. The Nazi regime, which was out to preserve the old Germanic traditions, reintroduced this custom, which was organized and carried out by the Hitler Youth . After the Second World War , slamming the disc was forgotten for a while until it was brought back to life by the Bat Carnival Society, founded in 1956.
