Bradley Shawn "Brad" Hunt (born August 24, 1988 in Maple Ridge , British Columbia ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Minnesota Wild from the National Hockey League since January 2019 and plays for them on the position of defender .
Career
Hunt first played in the British Columbia Hockey League for the Burnaby Express during his junior years between 2005 and 2008 . With the team he won the Royal Bank Cup at the end of the 2005/06 season . Following his time at BCHL, the defense attorney moved to the United States , where he enrolled at Bemidji State University for a degree . In the four years between 2008 and 2012 he played parallel for the university ice hockey team in College Hockey America and Western Collegiate Hockey Association , both divisions in the game operations of the National Collegiate Athletic Association . The defender received numerous individual awards in both divisions. He also won the CHA division title with the team at the end of the 2008/09 season.
Hunt was un drafted after completing his studies in March 2012 by the Chicago Wolves from the American Hockey League . Due to his performance during the rest of the season, the contract, which was initially issued on a trial basis, was converted into a permanent commitment for the 2012/13 season . The Canadian recommended himself in the course of the season with 33 points scorer in 65 games for a two-year contract with the Edmonton Oilers from the National Hockey League for the 2013/14 season . Mainly he spent the two years with the Oklahoma City Barons in the AHL, but was also used in 14 games for the Oilers in the NHL. In the summer of 2015, his expiring contract was extended for another year, but again he spent most of the season in the AHL. However, he was now in the squad of the new Bakersfield Condors farm team ; for Edmonton he ran in seven games.
After his contract was not renewed in the summer by the Oilers, Hunt joined as a free agent in the franchise of the St. Louis Blues . This put him back in the AHL, where he was in the squad of his ex-team Chicago Wolves. With 29 points in 23 games until the beginning of December, the defensive player started the season well and from then on found himself in the NHL squad of the Blues. There he played nine games until mid-January, in which he posted five points. When trying to send him back to Chicago via the waiver list, the Nashville Predators secured his services, but where he was only used three times. After the 2016/17 season , his expiring contract in Nashville was not renewed, so he joined the newly founded Vegas Golden Knights as a free agent in July 2017 . With the team he surprisingly reached the final of the Stanley Cup in the 2018 playoffs , but lost to the Washington Capitals there . After another half a season in the jersey of the Golden Knights, in which he was only used sporadically, the defensive player was given up to the Minnesota Wild together with a six- round vote in the NHL Entry Draft 2019 in exchange for a five-round vote in the same draft .
