Iggingen is a municipality in Baden-Württemberg and belongs to the Ostalb district . It belongs to the East Wuerttemberg region and the edge zone of the European metropolitan region of Stuttgart .

Iggingen is located on a ridge between the Rems and Lein rivers, about 10 km from Schwäbisch Gmünd .
Neighboring communities
The community borders in the north on Täferrot , Leinzell and Göggingen , in the east on Heuchlingen and Böbingen an der Rems , and in the south and west on the city of Schwäbisch Gmünd.

history
Iggingen
Iggingen was first mentioned in a document under the name Ucchinga in the Lorsch Codex in 855 . The spelling Uggingen is known from the year 1274 . The lords of Iggingen ran the village from 1275 to the beginning of the 16th century. The lords of Iggingen died out after Junker Hans zu Uckingen died, as his descendants were no longer considered noble. Iggingen fell to Schwäbisch Gmünd . The place belonged to the district of Schwäbisch Gmünd and went through the district reform of 1973 with this in the Ostalb district .
