history

Burg Hof am Regen had the status of a closed Hofmark , the owners of which held the lower jurisdiction . Nevertheless, the noble seat played an important role, as a respected noble family sat here, the Hofers , who gradually spread to other castles in the area. The sex of the von Hof is the first time in 1150 as Ministerialengeschlecht the Wittelsbach mentioned.

By the middle of the 13th century, the Hofers had achieved important positions in political life. The year 1340 was a decisive year for the Hofers. At that time there was a family dispute that led to the split between the "Hofer auf Hof" and the " Hofer auf Lobenstein ".

In the 15th century a branch was called "Hofer zu Sünching ". Other members of the noble family sat at the castles Sengersberg , Drachenstein , Hirschling and Triftlfing .

In 1340 Otto and Dietrich der Hofer retired to Lobenstein Castle . Both were vassals of the Palatinate princes. After Wigeleus still Hiltprand of Hof, which is mentioned in documents in 1481 and 1488 in the oldest follows Landsassenmatrikel appears. That is how this gender ends.

From 1735 the Counts of Thürheim were the new owners of the castle and the Hofmark . In 1735 Burg and Hofmark came to the Lords of Fischbach. Both properties passed to Lieutenant General Wilhelm Karl Graf von Eckart in 1801, and then to his grandson, Count Du Moulin-Eckart .
