The Stulln castle stalls are the names of an abandoned hilltop castle in the Upper Palatinate municipality of Stulln in the Schwandorf district . It is located about 2000 m east of Stulln and 1050 m north of Brensdorf on the Mühlberg.
description
The Mühlberg is a wooded ridge sloping on all sides on the western edge of the Naab valley ; it runs out in the northeast to a mountain tongue that slopes steeply towards the valley. At the top, an angled neck ditch separates the castle stable with an inner area of 50 × 60 m. The less steep north side is protected by a wall in continuation of the neck ditch. There are remains of the foundation made of large blocks, mortar and a monolithic lintel . The mountain tongue is crossed at its root by a heavily sanded wall with a ditch in front. This begins on the steeper south side, runs over a height of around 15 meters and descends about 5 m on the flatter north side; then it turns inward and follows the slope almost horizontally, then flattens to a slightly pronounced edge and completely exposes before hitting the kink of the neck ditch.
The castle stables in Stull, which was first mentioned in a document in 1174 (originally “ Stulen ” in the sense of “chair” or “judge's chair”) is not yet explored. The Burgstall is entered as a medieval ground monument D-3-6538-0014 in the list of architectural monuments of Stulln.
