The Burgstall The red house is a disused medieval castle complex on a ridge above the valley of the Rötzbach , a tributary of the Schwarzach . It is located around 1180 meters southwest of the Catholic Expositurkirche St. Stephan in Muschenried in the Upper Palatinate municipality of Winklarn in Bavaria , Germany . No historical or archaeological information is known about this castle ; it is roughly dated to medieval times. Only a neck ditch has survived from the complex, the place is protected as a ground monument number D-3-6541-0001: Medieval castle stables "The red house" .

The castle stable of the Spornburg is 472  m above sea level. NN Höhe on a ridge facing northeast, which is bounded in the north by the valley of the Rötzbach and in the east by the connecting road Kulz- Muschenried. The only remaining fortification of the castle complex is a three to five meter deep neck ditch that cuts off the castle site from the fore area , which rises slightly to the south. The bottom of this trench is still up to three meters wide. The slightly elevated castle hill at the highest point of the hill has a floor area of ​​around 82 × 30 meters. On its surface there is a weak culture layer with scorch marks. No foundation or other structural remains have been preserved, the castle hill is badly damaged by a quarry .
