Years ago, forensic doctor Lukas Maler ruined his career when he accidentally rendered evidence against the 24-hour killer, a serial killer, unusable. The killer has given his victim a 24-hour countdown alarm clock, and at the end of the time limit he will kill the victim.

Now painter has a job as a butcher. When the 24-hour killer strikes again according to the same pattern, Maler is brought back into the team of investigators. Luke discovers that the accident that destroyed the evidence was intentional. The 24-hour killer must have an informant on the team. Falsified evidence emerges that weighs heavily on painters. As a result, he is put in jail, from where he can escape thanks to a fellow inmate's plan to escape. Maler and his colleague Gonzalez find out that the 24-hour killer operates from a crematorium. In the showdown, Diana and Gonzalez are nearly burned in the crematorium, while Maler struggles with the killer, who turns out to be his superior, and finally overpowers him.
