Collien Ulmen-Fernandes (born September 26, 1981 in Hamburg ; nee Fernandes ) is a German television presenter , actress , author and model .

Life

Collien Ulmen-Fernandes is the daughter of a Catholic from India and a German of Hungarian descent. She moved out of home at the age of 15 and began her career as a model in commercials and for mail order companies. She was a member of the band Yam Yam. From 1997 she took dance lessons in Hamburg, after which she completed classical ballet training in Hamburg and London. Ulmen-Fernandes had a few appearances in music videos and worked as a background singer and dancer for Shaggy and Enrique Iglesias, among others .

In 2000 Ulmen-Fernandes applied to VIVA as a moderator for the casting You Can Make It Always . From 2001 to the end of 2002 she presented the program Bravo TV and The Dome on RTL II . From 2003 to 2015 she was a presenter at the music channel VIVA , where she presented numerous programs: Ritmo (2003), Interactive (2004), US and UK charts (2004-2005), VIVA Top 100 (2004-2015), street charts (2006 –2009), VIVA Live! (2006–2011) and many others. In addition to her main channels VIVA and RTL II, she was on MTV ( Fashion Zone ), VOX ( Fit for Fun TV ), ProSieben ( Wok-WM , TV total on Ice ) and Sat.1 ( Alles Typisch - the big cliché show) ) as a presenter and from 2003 to 2005 presented the magazine Maxim TV on DSF . In 2007 she moderated the online magazine Starstyle TV for Bunte . From 2007 until the last edition in 2011 she moderated the Comet Awards on VIVA and was seen as the presenter of the Jetix Awards ( kabel eins ) in 2008 .

Ulmen-Fernandes has also worked as an actress since 2003. Her first films in 2004 were Autobahnraser and Die Nacht der Leben Loser , a zombie comedy by Matthias Dinter . Her third film was the Dutch comedy Snowfever , in which she also played one of the leading roles. In 2007 she made two more movies, Ossi's Eleven and Morgen, ihr Luschen! , in which she embodies the female lead Shirin. Since then, Ulmen-Fernandes has appeared regularly in films and series.

In 2006/2007, together with Sarah Kuttner and Philipp Lahm, she was one of the faces of the Federal Ministry of Transport's Raser campaign , which was featured on motorway posters across Germany.

In 2007 Ulmen-Fernandes got a role in the main cast of the Sat.1 series Dr. Molly & Karl , of which 13 episodes were produced. The series was nominated for the Adolf Grimme Prize . In 2008, ProSieben ran Gülcan and Collien pulling into the country , a documentary soap based on the US series The Simple Life , with Ulmen-Fernandes and Gülcan Kamps as the leading actresses.

She has been working as a reporter at Galileo since 2010 . In 2011 she became the main presenter of the RTL II music show The Dome . In addition, from 2012 to 2015 she presented the children’s program Spurensuche , for which she received the MIRA Award in January 2013. At the Munich Film Festival 2013, Ulmen-Fernandes received another award for hosting the show.

Collien Ulmen-Fernandes lives in Potsdam and has been married to the actor Christian Ulmen since 2011 . In April 2012 they became parents of a daughter.

In 2015 she traveled to Cambodia as a reporter for her one-hour documentary High Price for Cheap Clothes . Afterwards, she spoke in various talk shows (including at Markus Lanz , Kölner Treff ) about her experiences in Cambodian textile factories and contradicted what she believed to be the widespread assumption that only discounters produce in low-wage countries . In an interview with Tagesspiegel , she said “What I am most outraged by is that many people think that this has nothing to do with them, after all they do not buy from KiK or Primark . The fact is, however, that pretty much all the big labels produce in these factories, including those in the middle to higher price segment and in some cases they pay their workers even less than the discounters ”. The ZDF then used her as a reporter for the show Donnerstalk .
