Castel di Iudica is a city in the metropolitan city of Catania in the region of Sicily in Italy with 4448 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019).

Location and dates

Castel di Judica is 33 km west of Catania . The inhabitants live mainly from agriculture and animal husbandry.

The neighboring communities are Agira ( EN ), Catenanuova ( EN ), Centuripe ( EN ), Paternò and Ramacca .

history

The castle was built by the Arabs and later conquered by Roger II . The castle , of which ruins are still preserved, was on the slope of the mountain of the same name and on a trade route that was important at the time.

In 1933, the town's residents were successfully offered to take the name of the castle and the mountain on which it is located.
