2004 season>

The 2003 German Touring Car Masters was the fourth season of the German Touring Car Masters ( DTM ). The first run took place on April 27, 2003 at the Hockenheimring and the season finale also took place at the Hockenheimring on October 5.

A total of 10 races were held in Germany , Italy , Great Britain , Austria and the Netherlands .

Overall winner was Bernd Schneider in the AMG-Mercedes CLK DTM with 68 points. For Schneider it was the fourth title win after 1995, 2000 and 2001.

history

For the 2003 season, the DTM regulations were changed in several places. The most extensive changes were in the execution of the race and the allocation of points.

The races in Zolder and the Sachsenring were canceled and replaced by races in Adria and on the Nürburgring .

Instead of a qualification run and a competition run, only one competition run was held in which points were awarded. To compensate for the omission of the qualification run, the duration of the rated race was extended from 40 to 60 minutes.

The qualification and determination of the starting positions has also been changed. After qualifying, the ten best drivers from this training started in an individual time trial for the first starting positions (the so-called Super Pole). During the race, each driver had to complete two mandatory pit stops.

The point system was changed and adapted to that of Formula 1 . The first eight drivers classified received points according to the scheme 10–8–6–5–4–3–2–1.
