2003 season>

The German Touring Car Masters 2002 was the third season of the German Touring Car Masters ( DTM ). The first run took place on April 21, 2002 at the Hockenheimring and the season finale also took place on October 6 at the Hockenheimring.

A total of 20 races were held in Germany , Belgium , Great Britain , Austria and the Netherlands . Two runs were carried out on each of the 10 race weekends.

The overall winner was the Frenchman Laurent Aïello in the Abt-Audi TT-R with 70 points.

history

After several fundamental changes to the regulations regarding the execution of the race and the award of points were introduced in the 2001 season, these remained largely unchanged for 2002.

With the inclusion of the Zolder and Donington venues , the DTM was once again positioned more internationally. Instead the race in Oschersleben and a race on the Nürburgring were canceled . The races were started with a standing start instead of a flying start .

When awarding points, it was no longer the first ten drivers classified for the race that received points, but only the first six drivers, according to the 10–6–4–3–2–1 scheme.
