David Rodman (born September 10, 1983 in Jesenice , SR Slovenia ) is a Slovenian ice hockey player who has been under contract with Grenoble Métropole Hockey 38 in Ligue Magnus since November 2016 .
Career
David Rodman learned to play ice hockey in the youth teams of the traditional Slovenian club HK Jesenice and, together with his brother Marcel, was one of the greatest talents in Slovenia after the turn of the millennium. In 2001, he ventured abroad for the first time in order to develop further in North America. He completed two successful seasons with the Val-d'Or Foreurs , who had drawn him in the first round of the CHL Import Drafts as the 45th player overall, in the Canadian Junior League Québec Major Junior Hockey League , where he was in his sophomore year in the regular season could achieve 70 scorer points . In 2003 he was signed by the Austrian first division club EHC Linz , where he only scored three points due to the lack of an ice age.
In 2004 Rodman returned to his hometown club, with which he won the Slovenian championship two times in a row in 2005 and 2006. In the 2006/07 season , HK Jesenice competed in the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga (EBEL) for the first time, as the team was unrivaled compared to the Slovenian league and was looking for new perspectives. Together with his brother and the American Aaron Fox , Rodman formed one of the most successful attack lines in the league. Nevertheless, HK Jesenice missed the playoffs by just one point. In the following season, all three players in the formation were signed by the Vienna Capitals , but they were eliminated in the semi-finals of the playoffs in 2008 against EC Red Bull Salzburg . While Fox stayed in Vienna, Marcel and David Rodman returned to HK Jesenice, but failed during the 2009 playoffs in the quarter-finals at the EHC Linz . Since Jesenice then had to struggle with financial problems, the brothers moved again to the Capitals. In June 2011 he signed a contract with IK Oskarshamn from HockeyAllsvenskan , the second Swedish division. In the summer of 2012, he joined the Bietigheim Steelers from the 2nd Bundesliga ice hockey , with whom he was able to win the DEB Cup . After a year he left the Württemberg region and returned to the Swedish Baltic coast. In January 2015 he dissolved his contract there and was signed by the EC Graz 99ers , but injured himself seriously after 12 games for the 99ers and missed the rest of the season.
In August 2015 Rodman was then committed by the Dresdner Eislöwen from the DEL2 , where he met his brother Marcel again. After the season he returned to Jesenice, where he was initially on the ice for HDD Jesenice in the Alps Hockey League . But in November 2016 he received a contract with Grenoble Métropole Hockey 38 and has since played for the team from the Dauphiné in the Ligue Magnus .
International
For Slovenia , Rodman took part in the junior division of the U18 World Cup in 2001 in Division II and the U20 World Championships in Division II in 2001 and Division I in 2002 and 2003 .
In the senior division, he was in his country's squad at the World Championships in Division I in 2007 , 2009 , 2010 , 2012 and 2014 as well as in the top division in 2005 , 2006 , 2008 , 2011 and 2013 . In addition, he represented his colors himself at the qualifying tournaments for the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin , 2010 in Vancouver and 2014 in Sochi, as well as at the Winter Games in Sochi , where the Slovenes took a surprising seventh place.
