A song for Amsterdam was the German preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 1970 in Amsterdam ( Netherlands ).

format

concept

The 30 most successful composers were commissioned to write a song each for a female and a male performer together with 15 copywriters and publishers.

Fifty songs were sent in from which a committee consisting of the four ARD entertainment directors, four composers who did not take part in the competition and two representatives of the record industry selected six titles for the final.

The performers were nominated by the four ARD entertainment directors.

A jury of seven experts voted on the title. Each jury member could award one point for each song. The three titles with the highest ratings went into a final voting round in which each expert had to name their favorite.
