Red list culture

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Red List culture or short The Red List is an initiative of the German Cultural Council , the National Association of German cultural organizations, to draw attention to endangered or closed cultural sites and institutions. The last list - which has been published continuously so far - was published at the end of January 2018.

purpose

The list was launched in July 2012 by the German Cultural Council , to which more than 200 cultural organizations belong, in order to draw public attention to threatened or already closed cultural institutions such as theaters, museums, initiatives, associations, programs or film houses . This list, which is always kept up-to-date, is published in every issue of the association's journal Politik & Kultur (editor Olaf Zimmermann ), in analogy to the Red Lists of Endangered Species or the Red List of UNESCO World Heritage at Risk . This list is intended to set an example against the creeping dismantling of culture.

Classification (evaluation)

The individual facilities are divided into five hazard categories from 0 to 4:

  • Category 4: endangerment canceled / not endangered
  • Category 3: Warning list
  • Category 2: endangered
  • Category 1: threatened with closure
  • Category 0: closed.
