In this first phase the 24 teams, divided into three groups (A to C), competed against each other in home and away games until each team had played 14 games. The five best from each group as well as the best group sixth qualified for the next round.

Intermediate round (Top 16)

In the second phase of the Euroleague, the remaining 16 teams were divided into four groups (D to G) of four teams each. The performance from the regular season was reflected in the seeding list for the draw. In this phase, too, the teams in each group competed against each other in home and return matches. The respective group winners qualified for the Final Four tournament.
