EuroHockey Club Trophy
The Euro Hockey Trophy was held from April 21 to 24, 2011 in the Italian capital Rome . It forms the first substructure for the Euro Hockey League. In addition to the title, the clubs also played for points for their national association in the EHF 3-year evaluation, which determines the number of clubs in a nation for the European Cup competitions.
The starting places for the Trophy were awarded on the one hand after the EHF 3-year ranking. So France lost their second place in the EHL , which started the second French representative in the Trophy. Italy and Switzerland did not get a starting place in the EHL , so that their national champions competed in the Trophy. On the other hand, due to good results, last year's trophy participants were allowed to play champions from Belarus and Ukraine, as well as the second Russian starter in the EHL .
The dovetailing with the third-class Euro Hockey Challenge I takes place via a promotion and relegation regulation. The second starters from Switzerland and Wales only achieved the last two places seven and eight at last year's Trophy and thus relegated to the Challenge. Instead, the winner of the challenge, the Austrian champion, and the finalist, the Czech champion, moved into the trophy.
The three remaining representatives remained unchanged from the previous year: Welsh champions, second European starter from Scotland and Italy.
