The 2001 season of the European Nations Cup (ENC) was the second season in this form. In contrast to 2000, the team from Morocco was replaced by Russia in Division 1 .
The original plan was to continue the European Nations Cup on an annual basis like the Six Nations tournament, but after the 2001 season it was decided to adopt a two-year rhythm with home and away games, and the games of the season just played in the following season 2001/2002. Nevertheless, the 2001 season was officially rated and Georgia recognized the title.
Regulations
The point system used in all divisions was as follows:
3 points if you win
2 points if there is a tie
1 point if you lose
0 points in the event of a forfait loss
In the event of a tie, the direct encounter made the difference.
