Rugby Europe International Championships 2016-2017

The Rugby Europe International Championships 2016–2017 (REIC) are a rugby union competition for European national teams in the second and third class, below the Six Nations . They are the first to take place in the competition as the successor to the European Nations Cup .

The delivery format differs from that of the previous format. All divisions will be conducted in a one-year cycle instead of the previous two-year cycle. 36 teams in five divisions are involved. In addition, the championships also serve as a competition to determine the European participants of the Rugby World Cup 2019 who are not already qualified (see Qualification for the Rugby World Cup 2019 ).

Regulations

The point system used in all divisions is as follows:

• 4 points if you win
• 2 points if there is a tie
• 0 points if you lose
• 1 bonus point if a team scores at least three attempts more than the opponent in a game
• 1 bonus point for a loss with eight or less points difference
