history

Today's Evangelical Church had several previous buildings. One of them, which stood in the same place as today's church, was built by the serfs of the Bailiffs of Hunolstein . The bailiffs were vassals of the dukes of Palatinate-Simmern (later Pfalz-Zweibrücken ) and the margraves of Baden , whose joint property since 1550 also included the rear county of Sponheim , in which the bailiffs had their own sovereign territory in which they had full control Possessed sovereignty . The village of Züsch, which was destroyed in 1504 and rebuilt by Vogt Johann IV (1556–1579) and his successors, was in this sovereign territory. The area of the rear county of Sponheim, and thus also Züsch, was captured by the Reformation in 1557 .

The church built by the serfs of the Bailiffs von Hunolstein was replaced by a new building in 1724, which remained in place until 1835. As a result of Zupfarrung of Börfink and Einschied in 1817, the church had become too small, but only on May 13, 1836 took place the foundation stone for a new larger church. Local architect Johann Baptist Bingler ( Trier ) was responsible for the plans . Building contractor Maximilian Pastert (Züsch) carried out the construction work. In the course of the construction work it turned out that an oak trunk was missing for the ceiling , which was cut in the community forest of Rinzenberg . This was noticed by the Rinzenbergers, which resulted in a fight between the Züschern and Rinzenbergers, as well as a court hearing. The missing tree trunk could ultimately be built in, so that on October 8, 1837 the church was inaugurated by the superintendent Ludovici from Mülheim. The new church was financed by funds from the Protestant parish of Züsch and a gift of grace from the Prussian King Friedrich Wilhelm III. in the amount of 1,800 thalers . Like all churches, the construction of which was made possible by a gift of grace, the church in Zut had to be built without a tower . In 1861 the church was finally given a roof turret instead of a tower. In total, the construction costs amounted to 3247 thalers.

In the years 1968 to 1969 the interior of the church was completely overhauled and given a lighter design.

The church building was built as a five-axis hall in the classical style. Instead of a tower, the church has a roof turret. Inside there is a beamed ceiling with hanging posts ending in pine cones , as well as a pulpit altar .

Today's church, which is already the third Protestant church at this point, is built entirely from quarry stone . Its predecessor was a half-timbered - clay -construction, its predecessor a timber. The church building is 21 meters long and 10 meters wide.

The organ of the church, a so-called Spanish organ , was built in 2002 according to the plans of the organ builder Matthias Wagner ( Essen ) and was the second of its kind in Germany after the Spanish organ in the Neustädter Church in Hanover . The organ front was built by carpenter Erwin Kreuzer. The organ pipes protruding horizontally from the prospectus into the nave are the most distinctive optical feature of the instrument. They are known as " Spanish Trumpets ".

The slider chests -instrument has 14 registers , spread over a keyboard and pedal . The playing and stop action is mechanical. As a compromise for use in church services, it has a long bass octave and a pedal that has been expanded to 2 octaves .
