Eve (real name Eve Jihan Jeffers ; born November 10, 1978 in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania ) is an American rapper and actress .
biography
Eve was working as a stripper when she was discovered by rapper Mase in 1997 . This made her with Dr. Dre who signed her to Aftermath Entertainment in 1998 . First recordings followed; For example, Eve was heard under the name Eve of Destruction on the Bulworth soundtrack . Nevertheless, in the same year she switched to Ruff Ryders Records , the record company of her good friend DMX , who helped her to a part on the remix for his hit Ruff Ryders Anthem . This was followed by collaborations with artists such as The Roots , Blackstreet and Janet Jackson .
In 1999 Eve released her debut album Let There Be Eve ... Ruff Ryder's First Lady . The record reached number one on the Billboard charts, a success that no other rapper had achieved before. She also worked with Prince and can be heard on his album Rave Un2 the Joy Fantastic in the song Hot Wit U , which is available as a remix on Rave In2 the Joy Fantastic . Scorpion followed in 2001 , which was also awarded platinum and reached number four in the charts; the single Let Me Blow Ya Mind (with Gwen Stefani ) also received a Grammy Award . In 2002, Eve-Olution was another studio album that included the singles Satisfaction and Gangsta Lovin with Alicia Keys . The album reached number 6 on the charts.
Eve has also worked as an actress for film and television since 2002. In 2003 she had a guest role in the film 3 Angels for Charlie - Full Power , in which she played a successor angel. Roles in films such as xXx - Triple X , The Woodsman , Barbershop and Barbershop 2 resulted in an own sitcom called Eve , which was broadcast on UPN from 2003 to 2006 . In the British drama Flashbacks of a Fool from 2008, she was seen on the side of Daniel Craig . Other roles followed.
Musically, she has occasionally been heard as a feature on singles by Amerie (One Thing Remix) , Mary J. Blige (Not Today) and Gwen Stefani (Rich Girl) . In 2007 Eve switched to Geffen Records . In May 2013, Eve's fourth album, Lip Lock, was released in the United States.
