Guggenheim Partners & Equitrust Windy City Open 2016

The 2016 Guggenheim Partners & Equitrust Windy City Open was held from February 25 to March 2, 2016 in Chicago , Illinois , United States . The men's squash tournament was part of the PSA World Tour 2015/16 and belonged to the World Series category . The women's squash tournament also belonged to the World Series category and was part of the women's PSA World Tour 2015/16 .

Last year's winners were Nick Matthew for the men and Raneem El Weleily for the women. While El Weleily defended their title in the final against Nour El Sherbini in four sets, Matthew had to give up in the third set against Mohamed Elshorbagy due to injury after he had also reached the final again .

The fields of participation in the men's and women's competition consisted of 32 players each, eight of which were starting places for qualifiers. Per Wildcard received Chris Hanson in the men's and Olivia Blatchford a spot in the main draw for the ladies.

Prize money and world ranking points

At the tournament, the following prize money and world ranking points were paid out or credited for reaching the respective round. Players who entered the main field from qualification received the specified qualification points in addition to those for reaching the respective round. Otherwise the amounts are not to be understood as cumulative. The total prize money for the men and women was US $ 150,000 each.
