Windy City Open 2018

The 2018 Windy City Open took place in Chicago , Illinois , in the United States from February 22-28, 2018 . The men's squash tournament was part of the PSA World Tour 2017/18 and belonged to the PSA World Series category . The women's tournament was part of the women's PSA World Tour 2017/18 and also belonged to the PSA World Series category .

Last year's winner for men was Grégory Gaultier , for women it was Raneem El Weleily . Gaultier did not run again due to injury. Mohamed Elshorbagy prevailed in the final against his brother Marwan with 11: 8, 11: 8 and 11: 6. In the women's category, Nour El Tayeb just won the final against Joelle King 11: 8, 10:12, 11:13, 11: 9 and 12:10.

The fields of participants in the men's and women's competitions each consisted of 32 players, eight of which were starting places for qualifiers. The eight best players were seeded for the men and the 16 best women for the women. Per Wildcard received Sabrina Sobhy and Chris Hanson a starting place in the respective main field.

Prize money and world ranking points

At the tournament, the following prize money and world ranking points were paid out or credited for reaching the respective round. Players who entered the main field from qualification received the specified qualification points in addition to those for reaching the respective round. Otherwise the amounts are not to be understood as cumulative. The total prize money was $ 250,000 each. This is the largest prize money to date in a professional squash tournament that was not held as a world championship.
