Last year's winner for men was Grégory Gaultier , for women it was Raneem El Weleily . Gaultier did not run again due to injury. Mohamed Elshorbagy prevailed in the final against his brother Marwan with 11: 8, 11: 8 and 11: 6. In the women's category, Nour El Tayeb just won the final against Joelle King 11: 8, 10:12, 11:13, 11: 9 and 12:10.
The fields of participants in the men's and women's competitions each consisted of 32 players, eight of which were starting places for qualifiers. The eight best players were seeded for the men and the 16 best women for the women. Per Wildcard received Sabrina Sobhy and Chris Hanson a starting place in the respective main field.
At the tournament, the following prize money and world ranking points were paid out or credited for reaching the respective round. Players who entered the main field from qualification received the specified qualification points in addition to those for reaching the respective round. Otherwise the amounts are not to be understood as cumulative. The total prize money was $ 250,000 each.
