The Guggenheim Partners & Equitrust Windy City Open 2017 was held from February 23 to March 1, 2017 in Chicago , Illinois , United States . The men's squash tournament was part of the PSA World Tour 2016/17 and belonged to the World Series category . The women's squash tournament was part of the women's PSA World Tour 2016/17 and also belonged to the World Series category .

Last year's winners were Mohamed Elshorbagy for men and Raneem El Weleily for women. In the men's category, Grégory Gaultier prevailed this year , defeating Marwan Elshorbagy in the final with 5:11, 11: 8, 11: 2 and 11: 4. Elshorbagy first reached a final at a World Series tournament. In the women's category, Raneem El Weleily defended her title for the second time in a row. As in the previous year, she defeated Nour El Sherbini in the final , this time with 10:12, 11: 7, 11: 7 and 11: 7.

The fields of participation in the men's and women's competition consisted of 32 players each, eight of which were starting places for qualifiers. The best eight players were seeded for the men and the best 16 players for the women. Per Wildcard received Chris Hanson in the men's and Olivia Blatchford a spot in the main draw for the ladies.

Prize money and world ranking points

At the tournament, the following prize money and world ranking points were paid out or credited for reaching the respective round. Players who entered the main field from qualification received the specified qualification points in addition to those for reaching the respective round. Otherwise the amounts are not to be understood as cumulative. The total prize money for the men and women was US $ 150,000 each.
