The Hansa-Park (own spelling: "HANSA-PARK") is a seasonal leisure park in Sierksdorf ( Schleswig-Holstein ) on the Baltic Sea . The park is run by Christoph Andreas Leicht (* 1962). Today the park covers 460,000 m² with - according to its own statement - more than 125 attractions and in 2016 welcomed 1.4 million guests. This makes it one of the five largest German amusement parks.

history

Legoland

The first German Legoland was built on the site in 1973 , which was built by the building contractor Hans Peter Rüster. From 28 million plastic building blocks from the Danish toy manufacturer Lego , entire cities were recreated in miniature format, from Rüdesheim am Rhein to the skyline of New York. The managing director was Carl M. Wenzel (founder of today's Wenzel Consulting AG) and marketing manager Paul Bornscheuer (former owner of the Verden amusement park and spokesman for Rüster-Holding Trustbau AG). This amusement park only existed until the end of 1976, due to the high license fees to the Lego group and the moderate number of visitors. In 1976 Legoland was closed and Rusters Deutsche Familienpark GmbH was liquidated. The Landesbank Schleswig-Holstein (LB Kiel) had co-financed the Legoland project with around 30 million DM (15.3 million euros) and now had the task of managing the park in trust.

Hansaland

  • Rudolf Erich Leicht became the new owner. He acquired the park with the help of two investors, Dagmar Countess Vitzthum (born Flick and daughter of Otto-Ernst Flick and then married to Wolfgang Graf Vitzthum ) and her maternal uncle Karl Raabem, in the fall of 1976. The stake should be around 10 million DM have been.
  • Together with the first managing director Horst Hamelberg, a new concept with the theme “maritime Hanseatic League” was designed. This also included a change in the payment system. In Legoland you had to pay individually for each ride, in Hansaland the inclusive system was gradually introduced. Once entry is paid, all shows and trips can be used as often as you like. Many of the old attractions from Legoland could be taken over. They just got a new look. Everything that reminded of Lego was removed. On May 15, 1977, the Hansaland opened its doors to visitors for the first time. As a novelty, the first original American white water course was opened in Germany on July 21, 1977.
  • In 1978 what was then the largest and most modern domed dolphinarium in Europe opened with 1,400 seats. Dolphins were already presented by the park in the opening year, namely in a small show hall that was located behind the western town.
Front of several shops in the “Bonanza City” theme world in Hansa-Park
  • 1979 saw the expansion of the western town "Bonanza City" and the inauguration of a round cinema with a giant screen and 70 mm projection. In 1987, Ronny's Pop Show was shown in this cinema , a stage adaptation of the television program of the same name that ran on ZDF . Music videos and skits played by a monkey (dubbed by Otto Waalkes ) were shown. However, the show only ran for one year, and the following year round cinema films were shown again. The circular cinema was demolished in 1989 for the construction of the Metroliner.
  • In 1980 the super roller coaster Nessie opened with a vertical loop . At the time, Nessie was the largest looping track in Europe and was built by the now legendary roller coaster builder Anton Schwarzkopf . The facility is now one of the classics in the park and was extensively themed for the 2019 season.
  • In 1981 the giant ship swing was opened, today the facility is called "Flying Dutchman".
  • In 1982 the show program was expanded. In the dolphinarium there was a sea lion demonstration in the preliminary program and a dog revue in the show hall.
  • In 1983 the construction of a show theater with 2800 seats began. With the opening of the 3D cinema in 1992 and the installation of folding seats in the lower rows, the number of seats was reduced to 1,800. In the opening season of the show theater in 1984, Frank Elstner , the inventor and presenter of the television program Wetten, dass ..? , presented a show called “Wetten Fun”. The show featured candidates from the TV show who lost their bets there. They got a second chance at the Hansapark. However, this show only ran during the main summer season. Animal shows were shown in the off-season. This concept was held for two more years. In the next two years, Wim Thoelke and Michael Schanze (children's nonsense with Michael) performed their own shows in the summer months. A seat reservation had to be bought for these summer shows.
  • The shows have only been running for the entire season since 1987 and seat reservations are no longer made. 1987 and 1988 this was an illusion show with the illusion artist “Mr. Cox ". A show followed in 1989 and 1990, which consisted of a mixture of theater and circus. In 1997 an illusion show ran again and a variety show was shown in the remaining years.
  • In 1986 the “Super Splash” water ride was opened. A year later this was extended with a ski jump.

Hansa Park

Replica of the Lübeck Holsten Gate as the entrance to the Hansa Park
  • For the 10th anniversary in 1987, the "Hansaland" was renamed "Hansa-Park" and the 100 meter high rotating cabin steel tower, known as the Holstein Tower , was opened, including the flagpole .
  • In 1989, the Hansa-Park opened the Metroliner, a train powered by electric motors, the track of which is a series of eight. At the opening, an absolute world first, the system, which is one of the roller coasters, drove at a speed of up to 80 km / h under the title “The fastest train in the tightest radius”. The system was discussed later and from then on operated in the Mexican themed area under the name "El Paso Express". The Metroliner was closed at the end of the 2015 season. The Metroliner was built on the foundations of the old round cinema. The control room was the former projector room of the cinema.
  • Since 1994 the Hansa-Park has done without dolphin shows. Since then, only sea lions have been shown in the dolphinarium, which has been renamed the “water circus”.
  • In 1997 the park area was expanded for around 15 million DM and a new themed area was built with “Pirate Land”. The new subject area included taking over the faithful replica of the Columbus ship Nina, once the highlight of an exhibition in Berlin's Martin-Gropius-Bau . The wild mouse roller coaster “Crazy Mine” in “Adventure Land” was also built in 1997, the system is themed in the style of an old mine and is also located in the new part of the park.
  • In 2006 a high ropes course was opened, which was further developed in 2008 as the "Navajo Trail" to become Europe's highest and largest high ropes course of its kind (Skytrail) in an amusement park.
  • A theme world on the Hanseatic League is currently being built in the park . This area called "HANSE in EUROPE" replaces the previous landing stages. As the first construction phase, a replica of the Holsten Gate was completed as an entrance in 2008 and was unveiled on April 26, 2008 in a grand ceremony by the then Prime Minister of Schleswig-Holstein, Peter Harry Carstensen . The sixth construction phase was opened for the 2013 season. In the long term, the faithful representation of an old Hanseatic and trading town with building elements from z. B. Lübeck, Copenhagen, Bremen and Goslar planned.
  • With the Gerstlauer Eurofighter " Fluch von Novgorod ", another roller coaster opened in the Hansa-Park in 2009. "Curse of Novgorod" has some special features, such as the combination of LSM launch and a vertical chain lift in a roller coaster, as well as the world's steepest descent in the dark, with a fall of 97 °.
  • In 2014, the show program for the sea lion performance was expanded to include two parrots and the background music for the show was changed.
  • In 2016 the "HANSE-Flieger" carousel was put into operation, while the previously announced children's roller coaster "The Little Tsar" did not open due to delivery problems. In addition, the theming of the '' KÄRNAN oath "was finally completed.
  • In the 2017 anniversary season (40 years of Hansa-Park or Hansaland), the children's roller coaster "The Little Czar", announced for 2016, and the flight attraction "Kärnapulten" were opened.
  • October 29, 2017: The Sea Lion Show by John Burke has its last performance in the Aquarena after 28 years. In 2018 it will be replaced by the child-friendly show "Emmi, Pingi & Co and the sunken city".
  • The laser and special effects show will not take place in 2018.
  • 2019: On April 27, the " Highlander ", the world's tallest gyro drop tower , opened in the newly designed themed area with a total height of 120 meters, a drop height of 103 meters, a seat inclination of 30 ° and a speed of 120 km / h "Enchanting Britain", which also includes the existing roller coasters "Nessie" and "Rasender Roland" and largely replaces the previous subject area "Thrill". In addition, the laser and special effects show returns with a new production after a one-year break.
  • The adventure park is divided into 13 different themed areas: "Hanseatic League in Europe", "Adventure Land", "Old Fair", "Enchanting Britain", "Bonanza City", "The realms of the north", "Fiesta del Mar", "Hansa Garden "," Lumberjack Camp "," Kinderland "," Thrill ", Water Fun" and "Viking Land", in which the various rides and shows are thematically embedded.

Townhouses of the resort

From 2007 the first of 109 planned holiday apartments were built in Scandinavian style and formed the "Hansa-Park Resort by the Sea" next to Hansa-Park and behind the railway line. Visitors can get from the resort to Hansa-Park via a 33-meter-long footbridge and a replica of a 24-meter-high red lighthouse. There is also a ticket control in the lighthouse. This means that Hansa-Park has officially had two entrance options since 2015. The operator in cooperation with Hansa-Park is SARCON Ferienparks GmbH, based in Hamburg. In June 2006 SARCON was taken over by the Dutch Roompot Service BV based in Kamperland .
