geography
location
The Hils, which belongs to the Leinebergland or Weser-Leine-Bergland within the Lower Saxony Upland , lies roughly in the quadrangle of the towns of Duingen , Delligsen , Einbeck and Eschershausen . It is located between Duingen and Coppengrave in the north, Hohe Warte , Hohenbüchen , Delligsen and Varrigsen in the east, Ammensen and Stroit in the southeast, Wenzen , Eimen , Mainzholzen , Vorwohle and Lenne in the south to the southwest, Wickensen , Holzen , Holzen-Ith and Capellenhagen in the west and Fölziehausen , Wallensen and Thüsten in the northwest. The central locations are Grünenplan and Kaierde . The uninhabited forest areas of the Hil are partly in the four unregulated areas of Eimen , Eschershausen , Grünenplan and Wenzen .
The Hils lies between the low mountain ranges of Ith in the northwest, Duinger Berg in the north, Reuberg , Steinberg and Selter in the east, Hube in the southeast, Elfas in the south, Homburgwald in the southwest and Vogler in the west.
Northwest foothills of the Hils is located on the Haidkopf Duinger Lake District , by the end northeastward into the line flowing Saale drained. In the east, the landscape of the Hil falls within the framework of Hille and Rote , both source streams of the Glene , in the direction of the outflow of this Leine tributary located between Duinger Berg and Reuberg. In its central part, the Glasebach flows eastwards to the Wispe , which rises in its southern part and which also drains the landscape into the Leine through a breakthrough valley between Steinberg and Selter. The southern part of the Hils is drained by the Stroiter Bach and the Hillebach to their confluence Krummen Wasser , which runs south into the Ilme , which in turn strives eastwards towards the Leine. The short streams in the west of the Hils drain over the Lenne northwest to the Weser .
In the northern part of the Hils is the Duinger Forest , in the middle part of the state forest Grünenplan and in the south of the state forest Einbeck .
geology
The Hils consists mainly of the glaconitic Hils sandstone of the Lower Cretaceous. The layers of layers made of this material, which were inclined in the Tertiary era, resisted the erosion as morphological hardships.
