JC Lipon (born July 10, 1993 in Regina , Saskatchewan ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with Dinamo Riga from the Continental Hockey League (KHL) since August 2020 and plays there in the position of right winger .
Career
Lipon joined the Kamloops Blazers from the Western Hockey League (WHL) for the 2009/10 season . There the right winger was only rarely able to convince with 13 and 21 scorer points in his first two years of play. It was not until the 2011/12 season that he increased his point yield to 65. Nevertheless, for the second summer in a row he was ignored in the NHL Entry Draft by the Franchises of the National Hockey League (NHL) and remained undrafted. It was not until the 2012/13 game year that Lipon recommended himself for a professional career in the NHL due to his performance. His 89 scorer points ensured that the striker was selected in the third round of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft in 91st place by the Winnipeg Jets .
The Jets finally signed Lipon two months after the draft and started using him from the 2013/14 season at St. John's IceCaps in the American Hockey League (AHL). Lipon also spent the 2014/15 season there before he found himself in the same league with the Manitoba Moose after the Jets relocated their cooperation partner in the summer of 2015. During the 2015/16 season he made his NHL debut and appeared nine times for Winnipeg. Ultimately, the Canadian played for the Moose in the AHL until the end of the 2019/20 season , before joining the Latvian capital city club Dinamo Riga from the Continental Hockey League (KHL) in August 2020 .
International
Lipon played for Team Canada Western in the 2010 World U-17 Hockey Challenge . He was also a member of the Canadian team that competed at the U20 World Junior Championship in 2013 in Ufa, Russia, and finished fourth.
