Johann Herzog (politician)

Johann Herzog (born September 5, 1943 in Znaim ) is an Austrian politician ( FPÖ ). From November 22, 2006, he was a non-executive city ​​councilor in Vienna and a member of the Vienna state government.

Professional and academic career

Johann Herzog attended elementary and middle school in Vienna and passed the Matura in 1962. He then began a financial education and became a financial administration official. Herzog then rose to the position of deputy group leader and worked in the tax office's audit department for fee and transaction taxes.

Political activity

Johann Herzog began his career as a district politician in Margareten , where he has been chairman of the FPÖ district group since 1975. Between 1990 and 1996 he was also a member of the Vienna State Parliament and a member of the City Council of Vienna, and from 1991 deputy chairman of the club. He took on the function of deputy chairman in the municipal council committees for housing and urban renewal as well as civil service, interior affairs and personnel. In 1996 he was sworn in as a city ​​councilor and was a member of the Vienna provincial government. After the state elections in 2005, Herzog moved again as a member of the state parliament and local council in November 2005, until he replaced Eduard Schock as city councilor and member of the Viennese regional government on November 22nd .

Herzog is a member of the beating academic fraternity of Aldania, a board member of the Austrian Landsmannschaft, classified as right-wing extremist by the documentation archive of the Austrian resistance , and deputy chairman of the Association for the Care of the Grave of the Wehrmacht fighter pilot and National Socialist Walter Nowotnys .
