Johanna Klier (née Schaller ; born September 13, 1952 in Artern ) is a former German athlete who competed for the GDR .

Life

Johanna Klier grew up in Nordhausen , started her athletic career at BSG Lok Nordhausen and is a former German hurdler who became an Olympic champion in 1976 for the GDR on her special route, the 100-meter hurdles .

In 1976, 1977, 1978 and 1980 she was GDR champion.

At the 1976 Olympic Games in Montréal, she won the gold medal in the 100-meter hurdles ahead of Tatiana Anissimowa and Natalja Lebedjewa from the Soviet Union. At the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow she won the silver medal as Johanna Klier behind Wera Komissowa from the USSR and in front of Lucyna Langer from Poland .

Johanna Klier is 1.75 m tall and weighed 66 kg during her active time.
