The Bennett-Lapid Cabinet ( Hebrew ממשלת ישראל השלושים ושש Memschelet Jisra'el haSchloschim veSchesch , German: thirty-sixth government of Israel) has been the 36th government of the State of Israel since June 13, 2021  . It is headed by Naftali Bennett as Prime Minister and Jair Lapid as Alternate Prime Minister in the form of a rotating government , so that both will change positions on August 27, 2023.

Government formation

After the parliamentary elections in 2021 , Benjamin Netanyahu , party leader of Likud , and after its failure, Jair Lapid, party leader of Yesh Atid , was commissioned by the Israeli president to form a government. On June 2, 2021, Lapid reached an agreement between Jesch Atid, Kachol Lavan or Chosen LeJisra'el , Jamina or HaJamin HeChadasch , Awoda , Jisra'el Beitenu , Tikwa Chadascha , Meretz and Ra'am .

On June 7, 2021, the speaker of the Israeli parliament, the Knesset , announced the successful formation of Lapid's government. The Knesset placed its trust in the proposed government on June 13, 2021, after which it was sworn in. 60 MPs from the Knesset approved the government, 59 voted against it.
