The canton of Coursan was a French canton in the Aude département in the Languedoc-Roussillon region until 2015 . It included seven parishes in the Arrondissement of Narbonne ; its main town (French: chef-lieu ) was Coursan . With the nationwide changes in the composition of the cantons in March 2015, 6 of its 7 member municipalities were assigned to the new canton of Les Basses Plaines de l'Aude .

The canton was 180.69 km 2 and last had 25,627 inhabitants (as of 2012), which corresponded to a population density of 142 inhabitants per km 2 . It was on average at 15  m , between sea level in Coursan and 200  m in Gruissan.
