The canton of Quillan was a French canton in the Aude department in the Languedoc-Roussillon region until 2015 . It comprised 18 parishes in the Arrondissement of Limoux ; its main town (French: chef-lieu ) was Quillan . With the nationwide changes in the composition of the cantons in March 2015, its member municipalities were assigned to the much larger canton of Les Basses Plaines de l'Aude .

The canton was 216.24 km 2 and last had 8,258 inhabitants (as of 2012), which corresponds to a population density of 39 inhabitants per km 2 . It is on average at 449  m , between 229  m in Espéraza and 1280  m in Quirbajou.
