Neighboring municipalities are Rouvenac and Puivert in the northwest, Fa in the north, Campagne-sur-Aude in the northeast, Saint-Ferriol and Saint-Julia-de-Bec in the east, Belvianes-et-Cavirac in the southeast, Quirbajou in the south, Coudons and Ginoles in the Southwest and Nébias in the west.

history

Quillan was a prominent city on the road between Carcassonne and Perpignan in the Middle Ages . Wood and other local products were brought to Carcassonne and the Canal du Midi via the River Aude .

The previous municipality was merged with Brenac to form the Commune nouvelle Quillan with effect from January 1, 2016 .
