Cailhavel ( Occitan : Calhavèl ) is a southern French municipality with 132 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the center of the Aude department in the Occitania region (before 2016 Languedoc-Roussillon ). The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement Limoux (until 2017 Limoux ) and the canton La Piège au Razès (until 2015 Alaigne ). The inhabitants are called Cailhavelais .

Cailhavel is located on the southeastern edge of the Lauragais in the former county of Razès about 23 kilometers west-southwest of Carcassonne . Cailhavel is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Villeneuve-lès-Montréal in the north, Montréal in the north and east, Cailhau in the south, Ferran in the west and south-west and Brézilhac in the north-west.
