The Canton Belcaire was 2015 a French canton in the department of Aude and the region Languedoc-Roussillon . It comprised 17 parishes in the Arrondissement of Limoux ; its main town (French: chef-lieu ) was Belcaire . The nationwide changes in the composition of the cantons resulted in its dissolution in March 2015.
The canton was 234.61 km² and last had 1656 inhabitants (as of 2012), which corresponded to a population density of 7 inhabitants per km². It was on average at 953 m , between 544 meters in Joucou and 2059 meters in La Fajolle.
