Kasli ( Russian Касли ) is a city in Chelyabinsk Oblast ( Russia ) with 16,969 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).
geography
The city is located on the eastern edge of the Southern Urals about 140 km northwest of the Oblast capital Chelyabinsk between the lakes Irtjasch , Bolschije (large) Kasli, Malyje (small) Kasli, Sungul and Kirety.
Kasli is administratively directly subordinate to the Oblast and at the same time the administrative center of the Rajon of the same name .
The city is connected by a branch line to the Mauk station 20 kilometers away on the Yekaterinburg – Chelyabinsk railway line opened in 1896 (freight traffic only).
history
Kasli was created in 1747 in connection with the establishment of the Kaslinski Sawod ironworks by the Demidow family and received town charter on July 29, 1942.

Culture and sights
In Kasli there is a history and art museum in which in particular products of the ironworks are shown, which was famous for its art casting from the middle of the 19th century .
The factory director's house from the 18th century, the hospital from 1780 and various industrial buildings from the 19th century have been preserved in the village.

There is a machine factory and a radio electronics factory in Kasli.
