Trjochgorny ( Russian Трёхгорный ) is a city in Chelyabinsk Oblast ( Russia ) with 33,670 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).
geography
The city is located on the western flank of the Southern Urals about 190 km southwest of the Oblast capital Chelyabinsk and 5 km south of the city of Jurjusan on the Jurjusan River , a left tributary of the Ufa in the Kama river system .
Trjochgorny is administratively directly subordinate to the Oblast and is one of the Closed Cities of Russia.
The M5 Moscow – Chelyabinsk highway runs a few kilometers northeast of the city .
history
The official founding date is April 9, 1952, when a settlement began to be built around a secret research center for the development of atomic weapons. The place received city rights on October 28, 1955. Initially, the city had the cover name Slatoust-20 and from 1967 Slatoust-36 . The city was given its current name - from Russian tri gory for three mountains - in 1993.

The State Research Center for submarine-based strategic missiles and a plant for control units for nuclear power plants are located in Trjochgorny . In addition, construction and light industry.
Since the partial opening of the city in the 1990s, an alpine skiing center has been built on the nearby, 858-meter-high mountain Sawjalicha , which is being tried to make known nationwide.
